Las Americas
“A Celebration of the Arts & Culture ”
This series depicts the beauty of Latin-American culture and diversity. While living in Miami, I met so many wonderful people from my church and my neighborhood from Cuba, Chile, Argentina, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, and all the other countries in Central and South America. I learned early on that we are ALL Americans...some from the North, some from Central and some from the South. I learned their language, customs, and way of life and loved it. My first husband of twenty-six years was a native of Costa Rica and he helped me to understand the Latin American culture.
Traveling to other countries I saw first hand Cuna Indians sewing molas, talented artists painting ox carts in Costa Rica, Guatemala women selling hand-made tablecloths, and Chileans dancing the folkloric cueca dance with handkerchiefs waving above their heads. These are the things that I want to share with others. My goal is to bridge the gap by showing how interesting and diverse all of Latin American culture can be.
